When we were first introduced to 3D posters, and the technology and graphics behind it, we were shown videos, tutorials on how and why it was used, and then made one our self.

In this section, I'm going to go through - step by step - what I did to create my own Layar.

To begin with, go straight onto the Layar website and make a free acount to get started on our Layar.

while you do this, start thinking of certain topics or items of which you may want to create this layar off. Once you have a rough idea of what topic, you'd need to fetch off of the internet, one photo and one video, relevent to each other, and download them both from the internet.

When you're looking for an image, it's preferable if it's detailed enough that the software could link to it and remeber it with a glance of a smart phone, yet simple enough that there were points in the image that when scanned, the software can recognise it.

Also when downloading the videa, I reccomand downloading it at 720p.

This is because:

 - still HD, and is a high enough quality.

 - most smart phones nowa-days can't project     1080p +.

 - It'll take more time to download a higher          quality, and for the viewer to view it on the      other end.

Once you log in, you'd be presented with a screen containing something along the lines of this (without the GoPro Layar I made earlier).

When you've selected and downloaded one image and one video file (preferably JPEG / MP4), you will now need to click on 'New Campaign' button, to begin a new project.

Once you've clicked on NEW CAMPAIGN, the site will ask you to fill in a couple of pieces just so they know what the purpose of this is for.

Once you've filled everything in, go ahead and click 'Create Campaign'

You're going to need a base layer for you to begin you Layar on.

This is when you can upload the image you got off of the internet (of one you've made you self).

Tip: Select the right file type of which the image is you're wanting to upload.

Now you've selected and uploaded your image, this will be the base of your new Layar.

This is the image which your audience will scan.

Now, all you need to do, is add you features, and add what you want to appear once viewers have scanned.

This is done by dragging in - from the menu on the right side of the screen - what ever you want to pop up.

- For example:

- Website

- Video

- Carousel (picture slide show)

- 'Like' button, and more

For this example, I wanted a video to play as the person scanned in.

Therefore, start off by dragging the 'PlayVideo' screen onto your Layar image. Once you've done this, it'll ask you to link a video to it. This is where you can 'upload file' that you downloaded to start off with, but in this example, I'm going to use a YouTube URL instead.

This is done by copy and pasting the URL of the chosen video into the section shown to the left.

Once this is approved by you and the system, press 'save' to save you work, and to carry on editing.

The advantages of downloading a video before hand (opposed to connecting URL) is that the viewers won't have to stream it, off of their internet, and it will stay at the same quality, chosen by you.

Now you're finished making your Layar!

Obviously you can go ahead adding features after features, videos after videos, but I do not recomend this, as it will most deffinitly slow down the viewers phone while viewing, which will resault in less acurate, and less smoth resaults.

Here's one I made:
