Wim Crouwel, Dutch Graphic Designer and typographer artists, born 21st november, 1928 and based in the Netherlands. His type faces (especailly New Alphabet) were know to be hard to read, which is a reason why I think it's so popular. A quote on one of his blogs I found, explained it very well; ''reading it provides you with a challenge, which makes it somewhat inteactive as well as attractive''. I love the fact that Wim hasn't chosen the obvious route when creating a new type face, of it having to be 'easy to read', and 'eye catching'; but instead, he took a completely different route, which tunred out quite well, and different from most fonts.
